Alright folks, with the clocks moving forward we know it's almost our time to shine!

✅ Pros:
More daylight – Longer evenings mean more time to tend to and prep the garden
Warmer soil – Helps us prep the garden and get ready for planting season
Better timing – That extra sunlight helps keep everything on track for spring

Dont forget, frost is still very much a threat so adjust your routine accordingly and be patient!

All in all, it’s a good time to get ready for planting!

Did you see that mud in the rain today? Southern Illinois weather never fails to keep us on our toes. But if there’s one thing we know, it’s dirt—and good soil makes all the difference for happy plants!

Here are a few super simple ways to get your soil ready for spring:

🌱Mix in Compost – Adding food scraps, leaves, or bagged compost makes your soil rich and healthy.
🌱 Let the Worms Work – Worms help keep soil soft and full of nutrients. If you see them, that’s a good sign!
🌱 Check Drainage – If water puddles on top, mix in some sand or compost to help it drain better.
🌱 Cover with Mulch – A layer of straw, leaves, or wood chips keeps moisture in and weeds out.
🌱Don’t Overwork It – Too much digging or walking on your soil can make it hard and compacted—keep it loose and fluffy!

A little prep now means way healthier plants later!
